When fossil fuel is converted into electricity, first the fuel burns, then they heat water to make steam, then the steam turn turbines, then the turbine turn the generators and turns it into electrical power. Fossil fuel is used today in feul cars and airplanes. It is also used to make medicine, cosmetics and plastics.

Some advantages of using fossil fuel are that very large amounts of electricity can be generated in one place using coal, fairly cheaply. Another advantage is that transpoirting oil and gas to the power stations is easy.

Some disadvantages of using fossil fuels are that it causes pollution, which is the main drawback, and it creates more carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are not a renewable energy source.
